I have a story to tell about coffee shop networking (the old fashioned way).
~I was introduced to B by A. A is in life insurance and annuities.
~B and I met at a local coffee shop after weeks of trying to coordinate schedules.
~B is a land and commercial realtor.
~While talking, it was revealed that B’s spouse, C, is in the commercial sign business. I need a commercial sign contact at this company as our old contact has retired.
~I will be introducing C to my architect, D, this afternoon so that we can collaborate on a very cool project.
~Be also has a client, E, that needs a general contractor for a commercial project in Plano. I am looking forward to that introduction.
~Turns out that B & C are moving to Flower Mound three doors down from my current client and friend, F, and across the street from former client, G.
~B & C need some updates completed on their new house before moving in and we are doing a site walk with them on Monday morning. I will introduce them to F & G so that they can meet some of their new neighbors and to see some of our previous and current work.
~While engaged in this conversation, a local restaurant owner and friend of mine, H, walked in and I introduced B as a new Flower Mound resident and told them about H’s restaurant.
~Turns out, H knows B’s parents, I & J, and is cigar smoking buddies with J.
~Conversation turned to good cigars and shops and now I will be visiting a new shop and owner K.
~I will also be introducing B to L, who is looking to build a new motorcycle dealership/shop and is looking for commercial space.
~L was an introduction from M for whom we built a private motorcycle museum and shop.
~M also introduced us to architect N, who will be helping us on E’s project in Plano.
~And on and on and on…
Some of this might have happened via social media networking, but not the majority of it and certainly not the foundation that was built that will result long lasting and more impactful relationships.
This is how I like to network and part of what I love so much about where I am in my life and my business. GET OUT THERE AND MEET PEOPLE!
